A joint UMAM D&R and Hayya Bina project

As UMAM D&R and Hayya Bina took stock of the "revolution," they felt that certain dimensions deserved further analysis and commentary, hence "Lebanon-in-Conflict" was launched. The semi-regular newsletters draw upon various sources and perspectives to highlight the latest developments of Lebanon's protracted uprising.

On October 17, 2019, a popular uprising unfurled across Lebanon and brought hundreds of thousands of people into the streets, showing that the status quo was no longer tenable. In the weeks and months that followed, a myriad of social, political, and economic developments occurred, leading many to speculate over what was happening and in which direction the country was headed.

A previous Hayya Bina project tracked developments in Lebanon directly impacting the Lebanese Shia community from 2012 to 2019. This project “ShiaWatch” has now been incorporated into Lebanon-in-Conflict, and previous newsletters and updates can be found below.
