Between Pride and Loss is a short video essay that reflects on inherited memory and the afterlife of war in Lebanon. Moving between personal testimony and collective narratives, the film explores how violence is transmitted through families, symbols, and public spaces—how pride, loss, identity, and grief intertwine. Rather than treating memory as archived history, the essay approaches it as a living force that continues to shape everyday life, asking whether fragmented narratives doom us to repeat past violence, or if shared storytelling can open the possibility of a different future.

Based on the text by Joelle Abou Nader: The Stories We Inherit: War, Memory, and Lebanon’s Fractured Present
