What Is To Be Done?
Lebanon's War-Loaded Memory
10 April 2008 | UNESCO, Beirut

On April 10, 2008, the What Is to Be Done? Lebanon’s War-Loaded Memory initiative was launched with a gathering under the patronage of the minister of culture, Tarek Mitri, at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut. The event featured presentations from Ambassador Hansjörg Haber of the Federal Republic of Germany in Lebanon and Alex Boraine, former vice president of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa and co-founder of the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ).

In addition, the event doubled as the inauguration of UMAM D&R's Missing exhibition, which focused on the hundreds, possibly thousands, of Lebanese that went missing during the civil war.

This event was made possible thanks to funding from the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa).
